From 28th September - 7th October 2023 the North East's largest annual contemporary art festival returns. Now spread across two weekends, Middlesbrough Art Week continues to bring exciting contemporary art to Middlesbrough and beyond. For MAW23 we are seeking artist proposals for the North East Open Call (NEOC) with work by artists around this year's thematic explored through the overarching title of ‘Measure’. The panel is looking for work that engages with ways of thinking of past, present and future: from deep time to waiting time to no time.
Middlesbrough Art Week (MAW) are seeking applications for work by artists and creatives either based in the North East or who have a connection to the area for an exhibition that forms part of MAW23.
The selected artists will display their work in a group show or in appropriate interventions across Middlesbrough. The selection will be made by curators from MAW, Matt’s Gallery, & MIMA. The final NEOC exhibition will be curated by Penelope Payne - An NEOC Alumni Artist.
