Tees Valley Artist of the Year

The 5 artists selected for the Tees Valley Artists of the Year award have been announced. What is the Tees Valley Artis of the Year? This is a groundbreaking model run by Tees Valley Combined Authority which supports an ambition to develop the region as an ‘engine room for creative artists and the successful artists were selected after competitive process involving panellists from the region’s leading cultural organisations, Arts Council England, and TVCA’. This marks a huge opportunity for not only the artists selected but for the region itself.

5 artists have been selected to receive a career changing £30,000 of investment and a year-long programme of strategic support to accelerate their development.

The award is part of a wider £20.5m programme of investment by the Combined Authority to grow the region’s creative and cultural industries and visitor economies.

This project is a completely new approach to develop the next generation of artists, musicians, film-makers and writers; and we are extremely proud to have supported the process. It was wonderful to have the community come together in celebrating and supporting this programme and a massive congratulations to those selected Lisette Auton , Claire A Baker, Amelia Coburn, Scott Turnbull and Andy Berriman; who you may remember from previous projects he has been involved in at The Auxiliary including the filming of The Benefits music video back in 2022 and Saint Saviour’s Better Than performance video from 2023. We’re excited to see how the year unfold and congratulations to those selected.
