It is a groundbreaking model run by Tees Valley Combined Authority which supports an ambition to develop the region as an ‘engine room for creative artists’.

All Packed up and ready to grow
What happens when you organise an art festival but don't have your central exhibition space...you decide to grow one! Over the next couple of months "8 schools and community groups across Middlesbrough are taking part in a special project for MAW24...to grow an exhibition!" This project is directed by curator Claire Feeley and creative practitioner Sue Loughlin.
Redbarn Residency
The Auxiliary is inviting applications from Teesside based artists for an artist residency at Redbarn in Youghal, Ireland. The artist in residence can use the week for developing ideas, research or as a retreat to recharge their batteries in an idyllic rural location close to the sea.
The Auxiliary x MOTHEROTHER Artist Support Open Call
MOTHEROTHER is offering support for artists designed with the needs of the caregiver in mind. We will endeavour to meet the needs of the selected artist in order that they have the time and space to develop their creative practice whilst balancing their caring responsibilities.

Document Your Artwork
Let's get snapping! You are invited into The Auxiliary to document your artwork on the 2nd of March from 12-5 PM. We have 10 spaces available each 60 minutes long for you to document your artwork.
DYCP Support Sessions
As the Arts Council England DYCP Funding deadline draws closer, we are offering 10 support sessions for those who have started their applications and need an extra pair of eyes to check it over!
North East Artists’ Fund
Funding Opportunity available from The North East Artists’ Fund. The next Round of Funding is available from the 8th January. The application process is designed to be user friendly and each application form should take 5-10 minutes to form out.

Listen up, we are pleased to announce, Olivia Louvel’s LOL has been selected as the Winner of this years Ivor Classical Award in the Sound Art category from a project we commissioned back in 2022
Invitation to VARC
An afternoon of socialising and talks from artists associated with the Auxiliary on their residency at VARC. An informal afternoon to hear about the diverse studio practices of the artists in residence, ask questions and see some examples of the work already produced. Everyone welcome.
NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL ART 3
Now showing at The Auxiliary until 22 July. This group exhibition features one artwork (or set of artworks) from 74 artists at all stages. Rather than an open call, where submissions are selected through some potentially arbitrary selection process, exhibiting artists responded to an ‘open invitation’ and were welcomed on a first-come first-served basis.
VARC x The Auxiliary
The Auxiliary are really excited to be working with VARC in partnership to offer studio artists from the Auxiliary and a few collaborators a chance for a mini residency up in Rural Northumberland with VARC. This week we commence our residency program which will run from the 8th of July until the 23rd of September, with 13 Artist over 11 weeks.
